Horman manufactures industrial sectional doors, high-speed gates and roller doors as well as adaptable ramps and dock seals for the Chinese market at its factory in the Baodi ecomonic zone, a district of the northern Chinese City of Tianjin. The new factory has 75 employees. It comprises the approx. 14,000 m2 production hall, a 2,000 m2 goods incoming section and the approx. 2,000 m2 order picking and shipping hall. A single-storey social and machinery wing with a canteen and conference/meeting rooms is located in front of he halls and connects them with the two-storey office building with integrated exhibition room. The buildings are arranged on the site in such a way that it is possible to extend the production, goods incoming and goods outgoing halls in six sections by approx. 60,000 m2 and the office wing by a further 1,500 m2 without impending use of the first construction stage, which is now complete. At the same time the paths on the operations site must be clear and short. The office building runs along Tian Yue Road, on which the entrance to the operations building is also situated in the northeast. Thus it is recognizable oriented towards the public space. The architectural design of the complex has been purposely kept functional and was derived from the functional requirements of the individual use areas. The colors of the blue hall and orange office building, social and machinery area were stipulated by the client. They represent the colors of this Eastern Westphalian family company and were used in this constellation on nearly all the existing 22 factories.
